The Many Challenges to Winning Your League Begin with Playing at a Great Site

There are many sites available for fantasy football; a ton are FREE. But, please remember, you get what you pay for!

I've used fanball.com for 10 years now. Although it started out free, in about 2001, the folks at fanball.com realized to upgrade their content and keep the light bills paid, they needed to charge folks to play. It's only 10 bucks a year to play and if you win your league...next year you play for free. For the 10 bucks you get 2 teams: play them in separate leagues and double your chances at playing next year for free.

I've been a part of a simple 8 team league now for 11 years. The web site's layout is great - simple and clear to use. I've also got a team on espn.com, but it is not very user-friendly. Fanball.com has it figured out.

They offer live drafts, drafts by e-mail and automatic drafts that select players according to how you set up your draft cards (ie player rankings, etc...). Live drafts are the best - if everyone in your league has access to laptops and a wi-fi hotspot, then you're cooking with grease.

Its very important now to begin researching players. Over the next few weeks, as training camps continue, you'll have to deal with injuries and guys that creating a buzz like rookies or recent free agents. This kind of stuff can drastically alter a draft card from day to day; so pay close attention to whats going on with the depth charts, etc...

That's all for now; I look forward to really getting into the season with you once pre-season play and the drafts begin in about the 3rd week of pre-season play. Remember, its a long season, and there are many fun challenges along the way to winning your league. Check back often for tips, advice and other information that'll be provided to help you carry the burdens of being a team owner in fantasy football. I hope to help you ENJOY and WIN your league!

NFL & Fantasy Football is Getting Close!!

I'm not sure how many of you play fantasy football, but I compare it to many things Shakespeare compared love to: roses, cross-dressing men, and, alas,...a summer's day. Speaking of a summer's day, is there any better summer day than the one who brings forth the beginning of NFL training camp? I don't think there is.

The beginning of training camp only means we're getting closer to the one day many folks live for. A day that symbolizes a new start - a chance to make up for last year's bum teams. That's day is Draft Day in fantasy football leagues. One source that has proven time and time again to be a great help from draft day to the final week of the season is Fantasy Football Daily Planner. I'm sure this will prove to be a great source.

The guys at FFDP do a great job of linking to ff sites that provide relative and practical information from draft day, bench/start, waiver pick-ups, etc... Whatever league you're in, be sure to check out FFDP - Google pulls it up with ease.

I look forward to hearing from many of you regarding fantasy football and also just classic NFL chat regarding your favorite team, division, etc.... Please help me to create a wholesome place to discuss football by keeping all comments appropriate- just imagine your children are reading what you're writing! Please avoid foul language and anything else lewd and...well,...bad. Thanks a lot for your help.

Go Titans!
Go Boars!
